Down and Out for 3 weeks and other sad news.
So I’m an Klutz! I admit it.. I can find any hole at any time, anywhere and fall in it. So the weekend after 2nd to last race I was planning on getting a tattoo or working with my tattoo artist friend about my newly based Running Tattoo. After spending a couple hours at the shop we left. It was dark and with the train tracks above me it casted a shadow over the area that I was stepping on to.. and guess what it was a HOLE and Down I went, in between two cars. I was in Pain, but I didn’t show it. I gritted my teeth got up, hobbled to my car and took a deep breath.. I was beyond bummed I was Pissed off… I kept asking myself, “why do I always have to find the holes?!?!” I was not amused..
It’s now been three weeks, I have not be able to run. My foot has a hair line fracture and I have my winter runs coming up! I already had to sell one of my bibs ( the Turkey Trot ) and I was totally not thrilled with that.. I was also not stoked on PPTC’s response to my plea to see if I could defer to next year. Their answer was this, ” First, OUCH! and Second, We don’t do that!” I was floored at their response… I understand that 99% of the races don’t do that but it was the answer that threw me a left hook! But in the end at least I was able to sell my bib, make someone feel young again with my age, and be in the house Cooking all day to only enjoy that for 5 minutes!”
In other news, my dearest and oldest cat Lady Nora has been pre diagnosed with Skin Cancer. She is roughly 14 years old and has been a huge part of my life. I don’t have any kids so my animals have become my Fur Children. She has traveled from the east coast to the west coast and back. and she has always been there for me when I needed a head bump or a purr… She started off this past week not eating and now she is up to eating a full packet of food. She seems to like anything with sardines and mackerel in it. *yuck* She’s also become even more of a pre-Madonna by wanting her food fluffed up into a pile so she will eat it. Spoiled Brat I tell ya! But thursday I take her back in for a check up to see what the Vet thinks and what route we should go.. because at this point I am not down for Cancer Treatments.. A: Its Cruel treatment for anyone and B: it’s not cheap! So I just keep her in my thoughts every day, I look forward to seeing her welcoming me home when I get home, and I love her little meows when she’s hungry.
oh and before I go….. I WILL BE RUNNING NEXT WEEK!! I CAN NOT TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!!! Here’s to my foot being on the mend!
