Cherry Blossom 10 Miler Or Bust
As some of you know, I originally hail from Northern VA in the DC Metro area… I’ve always wanted to run on the streets of DC but not like I did in my youth. DC is and will always have a place in my heart! From the time I was an infant until now, when I drive onto the belt way I get a huge smile on my face ( yes, even with the traffic! LOL ). It’s the happiness that over comes me knowing, I’m almost home.. Knowing that just around the corner lays interstate 66 and down I-66 is my home. But that wasn’t always my home. Before that there were a couple of other homes. My memories bring me back to living in Alexandria Va and going to James K Polk Elementary school.. They also me back to my dad driving me to Reagan International airport to watch the planes take off and land. More memories take me back to when there was an Army Base across the street from the apartments we lived in that housed a pond where I fed the ducks. I love VA/DC!!!
Anyways, when I started running I said to myself I wanted to run In DC to be able to get a chance to run by Arlington National Cemetery to thank my Nana because this is and has always been for her. I set a goal to run my First Half Marathon in DC but when that didn’t happen ( Thanks Nike for your horrible lottery system that told me I was in and then out 8 different times ) I found this race.. The Cherry Blossom 10 Miler I was like this is perfect!!! It’s during my favorite time of year in DC and the Mall looks AMAZING!!! To Run through that would be AWESOME SAUCE as my girl Amy would say! To me, that is when DC is at it’s prettiest. It’s like how NYC is to it’s Holiday Season. I just wanna run through the cherry trees and through the streets that will be lined with pink petals, and the smell of a DC Spring time!! OMG I can taste it.. My nose will hate it but ahhhhhh I just wanna do this!!
So, this is what I did.. They are looking for social media peeps to cover this event. So I signed up. I just gotta get into this race… I mean I did the DC Diva Half but that was in Leesburg and that’s not DC!!!!! ahhhh.. I hope I get it.. I just, I dunno… I have every finger crossed, toe crossed, hair crossed!! I know I have a lot of readers out there.. So please keep your fingers crossed… I so can’t wait to report about this race!!! AHHHHH I can smell the sweet smells of the Cherry Blossoms!!!
